Emberfall Saga

Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG we hoped mobile would get more of. You build a party of four, each with distinct skills, and work through a story that doesn't treat you like a child. Battles are turn-based, so you can pause and think, which is perfect for stop-start play.

The offline handling is excellent. Save anywhere, close the app mid-battle, come back to exactly where you left off. Over roughly fifteen hours we never lost progress.

It's not perfect, the inventory screen gets cluttered late-game, but the writing and the combat kept us coming back. This is a proper adventure that happens to live in your pocket.
